Nature³
The Standard to Nature
Nature³ is the new evolution of the SOCIALCARBON Standard — built to certify high-impact nature-based solutions.
In a time when environmental claims face rising scrutiny, Nature³ offers a unified Standard for high-integrity ecosystem restoration and conservation projects to be certified against: Offsetting, Insetting, Nature Stewardship.
A Unified Standard for Climate, Nature, and People
Nature doesn’t operate in siloes and neither do we.
Nature³ goes beyond traditional carbon certification by offering a unified Standard for nature-based solutions delivering impact for climate, nature and people.
Under one Standard were provide three certification pathways:
-
Certification of nature-based GHG emission reductions and removals within an eligible project area.
-
Certification of decarbonisation and carbon sequestration within defined value chains in Forest, Land and Agriculture sectors.
-
Certification the biodiversity and socio-economic outcomes from the conservation and restoration of natural ecosystems.
Key Features of Nature³
-
Integrated Certification Pathways
Nature³ certifies offsetting, insetting, and stewardship activities within a single, coherent system — enabling alignment across supply chains, landscapes, and jurisdictions.
-
Modular by Design
Built to reflect on-the-ground realities, Nature³ allows for modular assessment across different project types, methodologies, and scopes — without compromising scientific rigor.
-
Science-Driven, Evidence-Based
From baselines to monitoring, every element is anchored in peer-reviewed science, adaptive management, and lifecycle thinking.
-
Aligned with Global Frameworks
Nature³ is structured to interoperate with leading initiatives — including the ICVCM Core Carbon Principles, the Global Biodiversity Framework, and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
Frequently asked questions
-
Nature³ is a truly holistic Standard designed to support high-integrity nature-based solutions through a fully integrated Standard. Other Certification Schemes have separate standards for different certifications (e.g. Biodiversity Credits vs Carbon Credits), Nature³ covers all certifications in one place, and enables projects to transition between certifications over time to align with their evolving project needs.
-
Nature³ is designed to accommodate a wide range of nature-based solutions, including reforestation, agroforestry, regenerative agriculture, conservation efforts, and community-led stewardship programs. Its modular structure enables certification of GHG emission reductions/removals and nature stewardship, either individually or in combination.
-
Yes. Nature³ supports offsetting, insetting, and stewardship within a unified certification pathway. This allows corporate buyers and project developers to align Nature³ certification with their sustainability goals — whether they are mitigating value chain emissions, investing in ecosystem restoration, or pursuing long-term conservation.
-
Absolutely. Nature³ is built to align with key global initiatives such as the ICVCM Core Carbon Principles, Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), CORSIA sustainability criteria, and other emerging guidelines for credible environmental and social claims. This ensures market compatibility and future-proof certification.
-
Nature³’s modular architecture allows projects to adapt over time. Projects can transition between certification tracks (e.g. from carbon-only to co-certification with biodiversity or social components), reflect updated methodologies, or expand their impact scope — all without restarting from scratch. This flexibility supports resilience, scalability, and enduring impact.
-
No. While some technical expertise is required, the certification process under Nature³ has been designed to be accessible and efficient. Through the SOCIALCARBON portal, users gain access to streamlined workflows, digital templates, and automation tools that significantly reduce complexity, lower transaction costs, and shorten timelines. These features are intended to remove common barriers to entry while maintaining the integrity of certification.
